I’ve always had somewhat of a creative streak. From the fourth grade through college, I would get lost for hours sitting at my desk drawing. I love music, singing in particular, as an outlet for creativity. My creative streak tends to focus around technical, organized art, such as architecture. This may be why I am enjoying photography, it allows me to be creative, but requires a high degree of technical knowledge as well.
That said, I am new to photography thanks to my lovely wife buying me my first DSLR in January 2009. I read numerous blogs, books, and articles about photography. There is much to learn. I am surprised by the relaxation and escape this hobby provides. In the future, I hope to learn how to add more creativity to my photographs and seek out subjects that I may have otherwise missed.
I enjoy being behind the camera, not in front of it. I am married to a wonderful woman that I couldn’t live without. She encourages trips where I can take photographs, endures the time I spend editing photos, and has become quite the creative director when on location. Many of my favorite shots are those suggested by her; she has a natural eye.
